#Finch. What is it about this particular app that has allowed me to stick with it when I chop and change between so many others?

A purple birb in front of a shining sun celebrating a 250 day streak in the Finch: Self-Care Pet app.

This is my KBDCraft 60% typewriter.

Built from a Kit Lilith, with pieces from case Adam, along with some purchased parts and some I just had lying around. Plus some round "typewriter" keycaps from AliExpress.

It's also mostly hollow, so theoretically I could install a small PC like a Raspberry Pi or a NUC in there. But for now, it's good to use with a tablet.

Getting back into playing Pokรฉmon on my old DS lite. Enjoying it much more than I thought I would.

What I Want From the Fediverse

Was going to Ghost the right choice for me? I thought it was a good move. My website, blog, and Fediverse presence are all on the same platform and all on the same domain. But it's not quite what I wanted...

Why "death.au"?

Short answer: It continues to be available. Once, when I was young, in the early nineties, the Internet was just starting to take off. I didn't have it at my house just yet, but I did have it at school. And my cousin had it. She told me I needed to sign up for an email address and helped me set up an account with a service called Hotmail. The first step was to choose a name, as using your real name was not a good idea (there could be predators on the Internet, or so I was told).

Modern PC OS interfaces are built around the desktop metaphor. Modern desktops are built around the interface for the PC OS.

I need to pick myself up and get back into a regular rhythm.

I need a solid project to work on.

Charlie and the Chocolate factory, but rewritten in the modern day, with modern day sensibilities. New kids, new fantastic ways for them to get their comeuppance.

Plot twist: it's a sequel. There are stories and legends of what happened to kids in the factory many years ago, including that one kid who never returned and whose whole family disappeared soon after. Story morphs into horror-esque.

Double plot twist "Willy Wonka" is just old Charlie.

So, I did a thing and made a video: Lilith + Lilin Assembly

It's a little naff, technical limitations and all that, but I'm hoping it's the start of something more in the future. We shall see.

I've been pretty lucky in my life - never broken a bone. My daughter is not so lucky. Broke her wrist in two places. She was in a lot of pain.
But, a bit of nitrous and some plaster and she bounces back super quick ๐Ÿ‘

Going on Safari (Chapter Two)

This is part of a series I'm writing documenting my efforts to establish native messaging communication between my MarkDownload web extension and a native app. Go check out the motivation or my previous efforts

Going on Safari (Chapter One)

As mentioned in my previous blog post, I went down a bit of a rabbit hole regarding native messaging. I couldn't figure out how to communicate properly via stdin/stdout from a MacOS Swift app. If anyone has any pointers, that would greatly simplify the process; because oh boy is this a process.

Going on Safari (Prologue)

I'm currently working on a complete rewrite of my browser extension, MarkDownload. In the current version, most of my logic and processing takes place on a persistent background page. An invisible webpage, just sitting there taking up memory, waiting for someone to click that button and get the process started.

Book week parade at school today. As usual, so many Harry Potters, but respect to the one Hufflepuff among the Gryffindors.
